Summary (IC-FTN 2023)
The 2nd International Conference on Food Technology and Nutrition (IC-FTN 2023), hosted by the Indonesian Association of Food Technologists (IAFT) in collaboration with several universities in Bali, served as a global platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences among researchers and practitioners in the field of food technology and nutrition. The event covered a broad spectrum of topics, including functional foods, fermentation and food biotechnology, food safety, gastronomy, and food processing and engineering. Participants came from countries such as Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, India, Australia, and more. The conference aimed to foster research networking and collaboration among experts to address global food-related challenges.
The event featured prominent keynote speakers, including H. Arief Prasetyo Adi (Head of the Indonesian National Food Agency), Prof. Aman Wirakartakusumah (President of IUFoST), and Prof. Anil Kumar Anal from AIT Thailand. These experts shared insights on food security, national food system transformation, and innovative research, such as the utilization of millet for functional foods. In addition to keynote presentations, the conference hosted numerous technical sessions and panel discussions, covering hundreds of research presentations on emerging innovations like microalgae-based food, local fermented products, smart packaging technology, and high-nutrition local food utilization.
Beyond academic discussions, IC-FTN 2023 also offered a variety of engaging activities, including student competitions, poster sessions, product exhibitions, and cultural exploration in Bali. This multifaceted event not only contributed to scientific and technological advancements in food but also provided a culturally enriching experience for all attendees. It is hoped that the conference will inspire international collaboration in supporting sustainable food systems and strengthen global food security through innovation and science-based approaches.
